Getting into Shape for a rewarding career in Fitness and Health
As a society we have become more health conscious and interested in fitness and wellbeing. SCFE have expanded the range of courses available to meet future skill needs in these areas.
Along with our QQI Level 5 Fitness Instruction and Exercise Science course we are now introducing QQI Level 5 Physical Education (PE) & Sports Coaching, which offers qualifications in coaching as well a clear pathway toward a career in fitness and sports related fields.
We are also introducing QQI Level 5 Physical Education (PE) & Inclusive Education this course combines SCFE’s proven expertise in the area of inclusion toward providing students with the skills required to work in the sport and fitness field within a diverse range of settings.
Students from all of these courses can progress to a range of third level options or to SCFE’s QQI Level 6/ ITEC Personal Training and Strength& Conditioning and QQI Level 6/ITEC Personal Training and Sports Rehabilitation (including Physiotherapy Assistant and Sports Massage).
Graduates from these Level 6 courses have progressed to a range of careers in this area including teaching, gym management, gym owner and corporate fitness providers.
SCFE Working in Wellness
One outcome of the pandemic was an increased interest in health, wellbeing and holistic therapies.
At SCFE you can train to become a qualified Yoga Teacher or Pilates Teacher while also adding to your skills set by qualifying in areas such as Massage, Indian Head Massage, and Reflexology.
Students from all of these courses can move directly into employment, set up their own businesses or progress to a range of third level degree courses.
Travel and Tourism Students Flying High
The Travel and Airline industry may have been hard hit by the global pandemic, but with airlines already experiencing a high level of demand and the hospitality sector forecasting a full recovery this summer, the industry is already facing staff shortages.
At SCFE students on the QQI Level 5 / IAOT Airline and Travel Industry Studies course are ensuring that they are well positioned to take advantage of the upturn.
Our current students are already preparing for assessment in their Cabin Crew Operations module and will travel to Waterford Airport for intensive training to perfect their skills.
These students along with students on the QQI Level 5 Hospitality and Tourism Industry Studies will be taking off to sunny Tenerife in April to complete a three-week work experience placement in tourism related services as part of the Erasmus programme.
Making Shapes in Theatre and Performance
After facing almost two years of being locked out of performance spaces the Arts are starting to make their way back to our theatres and galleries.
At SCFE the Performing Arts/ Acting and Performance for Theatre, TV and Film students are now ready to shine again with a presentation of Bitesize Theatre on Thursday March 31 at the SCFE Auditorium.
SCFE has a long history in Dance and Performance and is now enrolling and auditioning talented people from all backgrounds for the Musical theatre and Dance course. This unique course allows students to develop their talent in a broad range of areas such as dance, singing, movement and acting.
Students from this course have progressed to theatrical and dance courses both in Ireland and internationally. For more information check out http://www.scfe.ie
