The Europass Advantage

Empowering students for lifelong learning with Europass

Are you a guidance counsellor or education professional looking for ways to empower students on their lifelong learning journey?

Well, look no further: Europass is here to help. Developed by the European Commission, Europass is a free online tool that supports learners in documenting their skills, qualifications, and experiences, and navigating their lifelong learning and career journeys.

Showcasing skills and experiences the Europass way

The Europass Profile is a personal one-stop-shop for learners to record details of their skills, experiences, and qualifications. By using the ‘My Skills’ tool, learners can develop an overview of their skills and receive suggestions of skills relevant to their experiences.

And with just a few clicks, the Europass CV builder lets learners easily create professional-looking CVs that they can download or share by secure link with potential employers or education providers.

Opening doors to opportunities for learners

Europass can also help learners pursue their lifelong learning and career goals by taking their experiences and achievements with them in Ireland, Europe, and beyond.

Europass Mobility is a document issued to ensure the learning and skills gained during a mobility experience, such as Erasmus+, are captured and recorded in a consistent and understandable way. Learners can easily showcase to employers and education providers the learning and skills developed during their mobility experience.

The Certificate Supplement and Diploma Supplement are documents issued in standardised formats that can help graduates with further education and higher education qualifications explain to employers and education providers what they have learned.

All these documents are stored in a free, secure Europass Library, an online space that also provides an option to securely share links to files in your library with others.

For learners looking to explore learning, volunteering, or careers outside of Ireland, the Europass Course and Job Search can help identify opportunities across Europe.

Taken together, the tools and resources available on Europass allow learners to build a digital backpack which they can take with them throughout their lives, whether applying for courses, a job, or a volunteer opportunity.

Bringing Europass into the classroom for lifelong learning

By using Europass in the classroom you can assist learners to better understand their growth and how their learning and experiences translate into real marketable skills. You can also use it to encourage learners to reflect on their experiences and teach them how to communicate their skills in ways easily understood by employers and education providers, equipping them for their lifelong learning and career journeys.

Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) hosts Ireland’s National Europass Centre.
