Preparing students for employment and progression

Pearse College is based in Crumlin in Dublin city. Their courses prepare students for employment and third level education in an adult-friendly environment.

The College provides a range of courses including Sports, Psychology, Architecture, Business, Pre-Apprenticeships, Adult Leaving Certificate (two years), Repeat Leaving Cert, and University Access Courses in the Sciences, Engineering, Marketing and Arts.

Exciting new courses starting in September 2022 include Speech & Language Therapy Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant, both with excellent progression routes to Third Level.

In fact, for those interested in progressing to Third Level, Pearse College has excellent progression links to Ireland’s leading Universities including Trinity College Dublin and all leading IT’s including TU Dublin.

“My Journey to Third Level started with a small step – enrolling in a University Access Course- a step that was scary but worth it, and now I making giant strides forward studying for a BSc in Economics, and all the credit goes to the fundamentals I learned in UAC and the tools were sharpened in the rooms of Pearse College”- Zaur, former UAC student now studying Economics in UCD

Often in the spotlight is their Photography Department, whose practical modules focus students’ learning on the development of the relevant technical skills – such as managing a professional studio and event planning major exhibition – to work in the field of photography or mixed media. Other graduates progress to degree courses in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Further adding to the learning experience are the supports the college offers including a guidance team, a counsellor, a student support officer and regular literacy, numeracy, and assignment support workshops. There is also an onsite Creche, a Sports Complex and a student café.

“Without the guidance and encouragement from all the tutors and staff at Pearse, I probably wouldn’t be studying in UCD today..”
Conor, former European Studies and Languages student now studying Linguistics & Culture in UCD

“Attending Pearse College definitely gave me the confidence and the tools for my degree course.  Aside from the academic subjects, the Course equips students with very practical but essential training in research, referencing and essay writing. You also cannot put a price on peer-to-peer learning and discussing issues with your peers…”
Connie Morahan, studying History & Political Science in TCD

“The year I spent at Pearse College has been an integral part of my time at Trinity College. I learned the skills necessary to succeed at third level.  It was a really intense year, but it definitely prepared me for my undergraduate degree.”
Rachel Merriman, graduate of Sociology & Social Policy in TCD

“Now in TCD, we’re constantly reminded of the requirement to be able to write clearly and concisely all of which was covered in Pearse College.  In addition, peer support is extremely important and the friendships and support that started in Pearse has extended to College life.”
Anne Fitzharris, now studying History in TCD
