This week 24th – 28th April is Active School Week. The aim of Active School Week is to promote, encourage and support physical activities in school.
This week can transform a child’s relationship with physical activity. Each day of the week is filled with exercises and fun initiatives that develop a positive relationship between students and physical exercise. Active School Week is the initiative of the Active School Flag, which has focused on enhancing physical activity in school going children since 2009.
Some of the goals of the Active School Initiative are to:
Promote physical activity in a fun and inclusive way
Incentivise schools to engage in a process of self reflection and action planning at school level.
Support schools to identify ways to energise the school day.
Encourage schools to strengthen their PE programmes and to promote physical literacy.
